Frank puts in his 150th consecutive appearance for Chelsea this afternoon. tomorrow I put in my last Sunday appearance as St. Catharine's curate....putting finishing touches to sermon today.....hoping to shoot and score!
Still no moving date - which is well annoying as we thought all along it was to be next week.

a barrel of laughs?
have just read mr balfour's blog on new wine. a lot of highs and lows - most of which I agree with. Superficial teaching, Christian celeb obsessions, loss of a radical venue in pursuit of something mainstream, the weather, same old same old seminars were some of my niggles. Left me thinking of setting up something else ....something more classy ....like New Port at Newport? overall new wine was great and we will return because I want my kids to stay excited about Jesus and if they do I can live with the niggles. Is new wine something we should accept as is or seek to change? (any ideas mr b?) Just worrying that we can take things like Christian Conferences too seriously. Official letter from the Bishop Dominic of Monmouth has now arrived....he really does want me in his diocese!!!! no idea about moving date yet though. Loads of practicalities to sort so please pray. thanks

Dr Syn - what a man!
off to join the family for a week's holiday in dymchurch (again!) with my parents and sister and zillions of relatives. dymchurch has a great beach but was the home of doctor Syn. By day Dr. Syn appeared to be the mild mannered vicar of dymchurch. but by night, disguised as a grotesque and terrifying "scarecrow' this phantom rider roamed the english seacoast using a band of smugglers to incercept government supplies in an attempt to break king george III's import tax.
Hope to come home rested and inspired!
(more job news coming next week on my return)

st.pauls
very long time no blog. soz. meanwhile however things have been trundling along on the job front. st. paul's newport is where we seem to be headed but some stuff has to happen before I get official confirmation from the Bish of Monmouth. Just back from New Wine (as opposed to New Port!) - twas cold wet and windy but a very worthwhile experience. Teaching was a bit weak and the whole christian celeb thing is really irritating but I really reconnected with Jesus and to be honest nothing else matters more than that. Have no idea when we might move so time to trust and hold on tight....
